October Playlist👻🧟♂️🍂
If you know me, you know that October is my favorite month. I love Halloween, I love fall, and I love my birthday.
Years ago, I made a playlist perfectly curated for the vibe I wanted all of October, and if I’m being honest - this playlist is a common rotation year round, not just in October.
October is for creepy vibes, songs that remind you of childhood days watching Monstober, sorting your Halloween candy. As the days get shorter, air gets cooler and time gets lonelier, sometimes the best medicine is a simple playlist.
So here it is - the secret to having the best month lies in this perfectly curated playlist (totally unbiased opinion.)
1. Girl Next Door - Copperhead
Have you ever seen My Babysitter’s a Vampire? aka the greatest movie and show combo that never got a proper ending? Well, even if this movie didn’t come out the night before your 8th birthday and completely change your life, you might still vibe with this song.
2. My Girlfriend is a Witch - October Country
This song is peak October. It makes you feel like you were transported into Halloweentown, where strange things may be happening all around you but you’re okay with it.
3. (Don’t Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
More cowbell.
4. Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
I mean come on, what’s a better hook than “I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand.” This song is honestly a nice 70’s vibe any time of year, whether you’re in London or not.
5. Mr. October - Bad Bunny
I hope and pray that he sings this at the Super Bowl but he probably won’t.
6. Thriller - Michael Jackson
Did you know that Vincent Price decided to take the flat out $20,000 for his contribution to this song because supposedly he didn’t really think that the royalties would pay him back that much. Oops.
7. Somebody’s Watching Me - Rockwell
This song is perfect for jamming out in the car, lip syncing to yourself in the mirror, or on a casual walk where anyone could be watching you.
8. Maniac - Michael Sembello
You’re a maniac (respectfully) if you don’t vibe to this song specifically this time of year.
9. Calling All The Monsters - China Anne McClain
I’m calling you and I’m telling to listen to Calling All The Monsters AND to rewatch classic Disney Channel episodes.
Some examples may include -
A.N.T. Farm - Mutants (S1. EP 14)
Zack and Cody - The Ghost in Suite 613 (S1. EP 19)
Suite Life on Deck - The Ghost and Mr. Martin (S3. EP 10)
Jessie - The Whining (S2. EP 1)
These are definitely not all of the episode you should be watching but you get the gist.
10. I Put a Spell On You - Nina Simone
There are so many amazing versions of this song, I wish I could include them all but none of them truly compare with the beautiful classic style of Nina Simone.
11. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
This is actually a somewhat recent addition to the playlist but it certainly gets the job done.
12. Season of the Witch - Lana Del Ray
Also another name for the month of October.
13. Maneater - Hall & Oates
Vibes! This song is maybe cannibalistic but in a fun October way!
14. Spooky Scary Skeletons - Andrew Gold
Self explanatory.
15. Monster Mash - Bobby “Boris’ Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers
I feel like I shouldn’t have to give you a reason to listen to this in October.
16. Superstition - Stevie Wonder
If you turn on a Halloween radio station you may hear this song three or four times, but why do that when you can stream it and have it on repeat all month long!
(but also please support your local radio stations🫶)
17. Lotta True Crime - Penelope Scott
This is a niche one, but personally it really resonates with me and maybe it will with you too.
18. Mary on a Cross - Ghost
So this is going to shock you because this type of music isn’t really my vibe but I LOVE this song. You’ve probably heard snippets on Tik Tok, but do yourself a favor and listen to the whole thing.
19. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Whether you learned this song after hearing Wednesday play it on her cello, or you’re a fan of classic 70s music, you just know that this song hits all the time but especially in the spookiest month.
20. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr.
Who ya gonna call?
I won’t make you read through all 53 songs on the playlist, just my top 20. If you feel like completely integrating yourself in my October mind, you can listen to the full playlist here.

You gotta throw a little bit of Ozzy Osbourne in there too.
